Narendra Modi all praise for Guntur woman
Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised a woman belonging to Guntur Rural district and for presenting toilet to her daughter-in-law on the occasion of the marriage. Sk. Shamshun and her family members used to go to open areas for nature’s call in Bollavaram village of Muppalla mandal in Guntur district. She decided to perform marriage to her son Sk. Shahjahan last year and decided to constructa toilet inspired from Swachh Bharat mission and presented the toilet to daughter-in-law Salma.
The Union Government started publishing Swachhta Samachar bulletin from this August and the story of Shamshun was published in the inaugural issue in which Mr. Modi praised Shamshun’s Rememdecision. Remembering the difficulties in defecating in the open, Ms. Shamshun lamented she never had access to a toilet in her father’s home, nor at my in-laws’ home. She rued: “I cannot even talk about the monsoon and the hardships that the season brings with it for women and through nature’s call.
She recalled that relatives who visited her home used to stay only for few hours showing the cause of absence of toilet. She said she felt ashamed when a relative working in Dubai came to her house but refused to stay due to open defecation and offered help to construct toilet. She said that then she came through about the Swachh Bharat Mission and decided to construct toilet but it was not materialised due to various reasons.
Ms. Shamsun said that later marriage of her son Sk. Shajahan was fixed with Salma and she decided to perform the marriage only after construction of toilet. “”I gathered all the information I could about the construction and disbursement of incentive amount through installments,” she said. She said that same vested of two 4,000 extra from her own side and got the toilet construction completed well before her son’s marriage for her daughter-in-law. She said that even Salma pregnant is extramile. I am extra careful about hygiene and safety and now I am going to ask Salma’s parents to construct a toilet for the convenience their family.
