Chennai: Special flight for Haj pilgrims makes emergency landing
The pilot alerted the air traffic control and made an emergency landing at 00: 30 am.
Chennai: A special Air India flight with around 420 Haj pilgrims on board made an emergency landing in Chennai international airport in the wee hours of Friday after a passenger took ill.
Abdul Jalil (58), an Indian national, flying from Chennai-Jetta complained of breathlessness following which the pilot decided to divert the Airbus to Chennai. Abdul was travelling with his wife Saboortva Beckham.
The pilot alerted the air traffic control and made an emergency landing at 00: 30 am, airport sources said. On landing, the passenger was deplaned for medical examination. He was admitted to the airport hospital.
Airport sources said the flight with remaining passengers left for Jetta at around 2 am.
