Central team to conclude TS rain damage tour today

Hyderabad: An inter-ministerial Central team toured four districts of Telangana state to assess the extent of damage caused by heavy rains and floods recently. On the second day of their visit, the team toured Bhupalapally and Mulug districts along with officials from the concerned districts. They inspected agriculture fields, crops affected by floods, breached tanks, damaged canals, bridges, and culverts. The team interacted with locals to enquire about the losses they incurred.

The Central team, consisting of seven members and led by NDMA joint secretary Kunal Satyarthi, arrived in the state on Tuesday and visited Warangal and Hanamkonda districts on the first day. After concluding their tour with a visit to Bhadrachalam on Thursday, the team will meet Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari in Hyderabad before returning to Delhi.

The Chief Secretary will present a comprehensive report on the losses incurred by the state due to heavy rains and floods that affected 10 districts between July 18 and July 29. The Central team is expected to recommend financial assistance for Telangana based on the information gathered during their visit. They will also review the report submitted by the state government and may conduct a follow-up visit if required to finalise the report for financial aid.

In a related development, Warangal collector Sikta Patnaik submitted a report to the Central team stating that the town incurred losses to the tune of Rs 450 crore due to heavy rains.
