TD roadshow: Pushing-cart eatery goes up in flames

ANANTAPUR: A fire accident burned down a pushing cart food joint during the road show of TD chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday. Crackers hit the cart on the road's opposite side, as the TD convoy stopped and Naidu started addressing the gathering. The video of pushing cart eatery burning went viral on social media.

Naidu was on a tour in Kadapa district and held a road show at Jammalamadugu town. He reached the main commercial centre in Jammalamadugu to address a public meeting. TD cadres burst crackers by way of welcoming Naidu. A lit cracker fell on the pushing cart.

Flames engulfed the cart after the gas stove and cooking oil caught fire. The flames leapt more than five feet high and it was visible from the other side of the road, where Naidu was addressing the public. Naidu noticed the flames but continued his speech. People in the vicinity hurriedly put out the fire.

Prior to this, Naidu visited the Gandikota project and interacted with the farmers and locals there. Referring to the exclusive efforts to fill Gandikota reservoir during the TD terms, through an alternative tunnel of Avuku from Srisailam backwaters, Naidu recalled that the farmers of Kadapa were benefited only due to the efforts of TD.

The TD chief came down heavily on Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over the latter proposing a tunnel at Gandikota at an estimated cost of Rs 5,000 crore but “did nothing” in the past four-and-a-half years.
