Telangana rains: Talasani alerts GHMC, asks residents to stay at home
HYDERABAD: A 30-year-old man died on the spot due to lightning at Rajanna Sircilla district as the state experienced heavy rain and strong winds on Sunday. A moving was damaged after a huge cut-out fell on it at Mahbubnagar district.
In Hyderabad, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Madhapur, Malkajgiri, Chintal, Balanagar, Nampally, Koti, Narayanguda, Musheerabad and Masab Tank, among others, experienced heavy rain.
The weather department said heavy rain was likely in several places in the state including Hyderabad in the next three days due to a depression formed in the Bay of Bengal.
Following this, minister Talasani Srinivas Rao directed the GHMC to take precautionary measures to prevent untoward incidents during the rain. The minister asked the citizens to stay indoors and not come out unless there was an emergency.
The lightning strike victim was identified as Satish, 30, who had gone to the Ganeshnagar ground in Sircilla to play cricket on Sunday. While it began raining, he took shelter under a tree and was struck by lightning.
A car was partially damaged at Rajapur Mandal on the Hyderabad National Highway 44 after a massive cut-out fell on it due to heavy winds.
Floodwater reached Mulavaagu in the Sircilla district. According to reports, 257 mm of rainfall was reported from Nizamabad, and 15 mm of rainfall was reported from Kamareddy.
Rain lashed Midgil of Mahbubnagar on Sunday. Transportation between Velugommu and Kothur was affected after water began overflowing on the roads. Heavy floodwater arrived at the Dumdumbi river.
