Leopard spotted near Srisailam temple

Forest officials have advised the people and devotees to move in groups to protect themselves

Kurnool: The presence of leopards in the Srisailam temple region has become a cause for concern among the local people. The frequent movement of these big cats along Ring Road and Rudra Park has created an environment of constant dread and panic for residents in the vicinity.

The situation escalated late on Saturday evening when some people noticed a leopard perched on the wall of a nearby compound. The incident was captured on video and went viral on social media, further increasing anxiety among the local population.

On getting the information, the forest officials immediately rushed to the spot and took precautionary measures to rescue it safely.

To address the issue of human-wildlife conflict and ensure the safety of local people and visiting devotees, the devasthanam officials had previously announced plans for the construction of fencing in the area. However, these plans are still in the proposal stage and the construction has not yet commenced.

In light of the recent sightings of leopards and bears, people are appealing to the government to speed up the construction of protective fencing in the temple region. Residents are anxious about their safety and they are urging authorities to take fast action to mitigate the risks associated with the presence of wild animals in the area. Forest officials have advised the people and devotees to move in groups to protect themselves from encounters with wild animals until the protection wall and other plans are materialised.
