Hyderabad: Parents flay Glendale school on bags
Hyderabad: Parents of Glendale Academy School were troubled after their children informed them that their bags will be confiscated if they did not carry the official school bag supplied by the school. The parents have lodged a complaint with the school department which had asked the parents not to buy the bag and promised action against the school.
Rajesh Rao Chillara, a parent from Glendale School, said, “Two days back, my sons told us that their school teachers have asked them to buy school bags from the school otherwise the bags will be confiscated and a new school bag will be given to them. The payment of the bag will be added to the fee list during the new academic year.”
He added, “We have already bought the school bag from outside and right now we are not willing to buy any school bags from the school.”Mrs Ragini, another parent from the school, said, “The school is only telling them verbally without any official communication. The bags provided by the school are not of good quality. Hence parents are reluctant to buy.”
However, the school management denied the allegations, and said it was a part of the school uniform. Minu Khan, director of Glendale Academy School, said, “We want all students to maintain uniformity by using the similar school bags. A few children use fancy bags which cost around Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000. Though we ask parents to buy the bags from the school, they still refuse.”
