T-Hub Phase 2 in June, T-Works in April

There's a 3-month delay in work & expected to be completed by July 2019.

Hyderabad: The inauguration of T-Hub Phase 2 has been postponed to June, while its hardware counterpart, T-Works, will be operational in April.

There were some defects in the construction, some rust formed on the steel structure, said IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan. “We are expecting the work to be completed in June-July next year. We lost about three months of work, but the contractor made up for some of it. There were some doubts over the quality of work, so we ordered a very thorough audit. The defects were rectified and work is going on full pace,” said Mr Ranjan.

The technology incubator centre work has been awarded to KPC Projects Ltd, a Hyderabad-based infrastructure company. There is no change in the contractor, who has rectified the defects.

At T-Works, the hardware facility, GE First Build will start operating from the end of January. In Phase 1, a building of 78,000 sq ft is coming up at Raidurgam. The second phase will be spread across 2.5 lakh sq ft.

While Phase 1 will have the capacity for 500 people, Phase 2 is expected to have capacity of 1,500 and is expected to be completed two years after Phase 1.

Mr Sujai Karampuri, CEO of T-Works, said that by April more than 30 companies will collaborate with the unit. T-Works has partnered with GE First Build, Dassault, Microsoft and Qualcomm for the facility. Unlike T-hub, there will be non-discriminatory access to everyone.

Mr Karampuri said, “Anybody with an idea can walk in to T-Works facility and create a prototype of the model. There is also a kids’ section where children can try out their ideas. Colleges can sign up in their fourth year to do projects at T-works”.

Around Rs 10 crore has been invested in purchasing the hardware, which includes CNC and pottery related equipment. About Rs 60 crore has been invested in T-Works, Rs 40 crore in the building and Rs 20 crore in equipment and infrastructure development. Mentors will be there to guide users.
