Cong to keep JD(S) option open: KCV
Hubballi: Congress party general secretary in-charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal on Monday made it clear that his party has kept open the option of forging an alliance with its estranged coalition partner, the JD(S) after the by-election results on December 9.
Addressing press persons while campaigning for Congress candidate Lakhan Jarkiholi in Gokak on Monday, Mr Venugopal said there are good days ahead as the BJP government in the state will not survive after December 9.
The by-elections became necessary because of the defection of Congress
and JD(S) legislators who were greedy for power, he said adding that the BJP government has no clear mandate and had come to power through horse-trading. The Congress is exploring all options for government formation only to keep the BJP away from power, he said.
He rebutted reports about differences among Congress leaders with regard to formation of a government with the JD(S) and claimed that all Congress leaders including Opposition leader Siddaramaiah were united. He accused Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa of failing to come to the rescue of the flood victims and said the BJP candidate in Gokak, Ramesh Jarkiholi had stayed away from his constituency instead of resolving the flood victims’problems.
Mr Venugopal also lauded the efforts made by Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi to rebuild the lives of flood victims in Gokak.
