Low-Pressure Area Brings Moderate Rain to Udupi and Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Several places in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada witnessed moderate rainfall on Thursday morning.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported the presence of a Low-Pressure Area situated over the Southeast Arabian Sea. Additionally, a trough extends from the cyclonic circulation associated with this low-pressure area to off the north Kerala coast at lower levels.

In light of these synoptic conditions, the Centre has predicted the likelihood of scattered to widespread light to moderate rains.

"Under the influence of the above synoptic conditions; scattered to widespread light to moderate rains and at isolated places heavy rains very likely over Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and parts of Chamarajanagara, Shivamogga, Mysuru & Mandya districts. Remaining parts of the State are likely to have cloudy conditions with isolated very light to light rains during next 5 days over the Karnataka State,” it added.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast on the possibility of light rain occurring at isolated locations in Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Dry weather is expected to prevail over North Interior Karnataka until the morning of January 5. Additionally, there is a chance of thunderstorms occurring at isolated places in Coastal Karnataka.
