Video on organ donation goes viral
KOZHIKODE: Some Scars are Worth It, an organ donation awareness video of Aster MIMS Health Care based on a true story, is making waves in the social media. It has already received more than one crore views, according to the makers of the movie.
The 220-second video tells an extraordinary story of a wife going through a trying times to save her better half’s life, chronicling the story of human generosity at best.
Kozhikode native K.V. Vijayan, a driver at a textile shop, was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. The family's attempts to get a perfect donor did not succeed. Though his wife Sindhu was ready to donate part of her liver, doctors found it fatty and they asked her to reduce weight within two months as Vijayan’s condition was getting worse day by day. Taking it as a challenge, Sindhu started to exercise and diet and finally reduced 10 kg to make her liver fit.
On February 24, 2014, the doctors successfully conducted the surgery and Vijayan came back to normal life. “Vijayan-Sindhu couple’s story is an inspiration for all and a perfect one to convey the importance of organ donation," Aster MIMS branding and communications manager Anvar Hussein said.
"We are getting a positive response from places like Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and the US.” The film is the directorial debut Om Shanthi Oshana scriptwriter Midhun Manuel Thomas.
“We are happy that our life story is inspiring millions, and more people come forward for this noblest cause,” said Vijayan. “We got calls from many places including Kochouseph Chittilappilly congratulating us.”
