Farmer commits suicide; 13 relatives booked for abetment
Nashik: A 45-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in a jungle in Saptashrungi Devi Gad locality in Nashik following which 13 persons were booked on abetment charge, police said on Saturday.
The farmer, identified as Sanjay Ramachandra Ahire, a resident of Wakhari village, hanged himself from a tree on June 2, Police Inspector (PI) Sujay Ghatge of Kalwan police station said.
A suicide note left behind by the victim said that he took the extreme step after he became fed up with mental harassment by his relatives over agricultural land dispute, the official said.
A case has been registered by police on complaint by his wife against 13 persons, all of whom are the relatives of the deceased.
Seven of the 13 accused have been arrested, he said, adding further investigation is on.
