BRS Leadership Rejects Requests from MLAs for Tickets to Relatives in Upcoming Polls

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership has asked party MLAs not to press for tickets for their realatives to contest the upcoming Assembly polls.

The leadership made it clear that candidates will be selected on merit and on the basis of survey reports.

A few BRS MLAs have requested party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and working president K.T. Rama Rao to relieve them due to their age and health condition and consider their kin in their place.

A few others want tickets to their kin in the event of the party leadership denying them tickets. Some MLAs have sought tickets for themselves and their relatives.

Party sources said that the MLAs who are seeking tickets to their kin include Banswada MLA and Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan besides MLC and Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy.

But the party leadership reportedly made it clear that it is averse to giving tickets to them either in their place or in other constituencies based on their recommendations or requests.

Srinivas Reddy sought a ticket to one of his two sons from Banswada in his place, citing age and health but the CM reportedly refused, and asked him to be prepared to contest again as internal surveys had favoured him.

Srinivas Yadav reportedly sought a ticket for his son T. Sai Kiran Yadav from one a segment under the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Sai Kiran had contested the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat on a TRS ticket in 2019 but lost to the BJP's G. Kishan Reddy.

The party leadership reportedly made it clear that tickets will be given based on survey reports and not on recommendations or requests.

Sukender Reddy is seeking a ticket for his son Gutha Amit Reddy from either Nalgonda or Munugode Assembly seat.

Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna is seeking a ticket for his son Jogu Premender, Peddapalli MLA Dasari Manohar Reddy for his son D. Prashanth Reddy and Jukkal MLA Hanmath Shinde for his son Harish Shinde.
