Kailash Mansaravor yatra: TN pilgrims stuck in Simikot
Krishnagiri: Four pilgrims from Hosur on their Kailash Mansaravor yatra got stranded at Simikot due to bad weather conditions. They allege that rescue teams have not reached them yet.
“Heard people talking about it, till date no rescue operation took place,” said Manoharan, head of one of the families, speaking to DC over phone on Tuesday.
Manoharan unable to speak much due to poor oxygen levels at that place, added, “four people from Hosur including two of us are staying at Simikot in the mountain region of Nepal and waiting for help.”
“Locals provide us food with the rations they have in stock, and it would be difficult in getting food if the rescue operation is further delayed as the stocks of food grains have emptied,” Manoharan said.
The 43-year-old R. Manoharan, a private company employee and resident of New ASTC HIDCO in Hosur of Krishnagiri district and his 40-year-old wife, Sridevi, are among other pilgrims who have got stranded at Simikot due to the bad weather conditions.
Two others have been identified as 58-year-old Arunachalam and his 50-year-old wife Sivagami, also belongs to Hosur and are part of the 12- member team undertaking the ‘Yatra’.
The couples left Hosur on June 18 and reached the international border on June 21. Then, they took Nepalganj-Simikot-Hilsa route also called as Nepal route to reach Kailash Mansarovar.
The pilgrims, during the return journey got stranded with others at Simikot, 216-km from Nepalganj and had been waiting for getting evacuated from the place for over six days since Thursday last.
