Differently abled seek quota in legislatures

They cite reservation provided to Anglo-Indians.

Khammam: The differently abled persons are on a on war path for political reservations in the legislative bodies. Their argument was that they belonged to the country and they had every right to ask for reservations when the Anglo-Indians were provided reservations in the legislatures. The fight is being organised under the banner of All India Disabled Rights Forum (AIDRF) and the organisation evolved a plan to get reservations for them in the legislatures.

They planned to air their voice on August 7 through their Chalo Delhi program. They planned to lay siege around the Parliament in Delhi on the Day to expose their demand. As per their argument, there were seven percent of differently abled persons in the country and they had enough skills and calibre to pass legislations in the legislative bodies. They demanded to provide them reservations like the Ango-Indians in the legislatures. Anglo-Indians were being provided reservations in the legislatures as a gratitude to the English rulers.

The differently abled persons belonged to this land and they had love and patriotism towards the country. There were intellectuals, professors and doctors among them and had every right to get reservations in the legislatures. AIDRF National President K Nageswara Rao said “We differently abled persons of the country will prove our talent in the legislature if we get reservation. Our patriotism was no way falling short to the dedication of the Anglo-Indians and it is time to consider our issue by the NDA government, MPs of all parties and intellectuals.” The question was why they were ignored by every political party. The activists of the Forum planned to meet the MPs of all political parties and explain their demands during their Delhi program.
