Ganesh festival feeding poor

Residential apartments have become the centre of attraction during Ganesh celebrations.

Nizamabad: Not only families in residential colonies, even visitors and the poor living in these areas get to partake the community bhog prasad or lunch made by the multitude of Ganesh pandals in the city.

Residential apartments have become the centre of attraction during Ganesh celebrations.

All apartment committees have installed Ganesh idols and are making food and tiffin arrangements for their residents.

For instance, Vasanth Prestige Prithvi Apartment, which is the biggest complex in the city has been offering bhog to Lord Ganesha and serving it later as prasad to the devotees.

Gopal Reddy, president of Prithvi Apartments committee said that the leftover food was being distributed amongst the poorest of the poor in the city.
“We have been getting them to the apartment premises and giving them food,” he explained.

“Donors are also coming forward to support community lunch programmes,” he added.

Meanwhile, government employees at collectorate, commissionerate police and the press club organised a community lunch for their members and others on the occasion.

Arranging a community lunch during Ganapati celebrations is becoming increasingly popular amongst Ganesh pandal organisers.

Nizamabad commissionerate police suggested to members of Ganesh pandals to celebrate the Navarathri and immersion with utmost respect to Lord Ganesha.
“Consuming liquor is not advised during the celebrations; everyone should take part in the celebrations with devotion,” said a police official.

Mission Kakatiya, rains made cops life easy

Thanks to Mission Kakatiya and good rains to make police job easy. Many villagers are showing interest in immersion of Ganesh idols in their respective tanks.

These idols are not coming to Khammam for immersion. For example, the people of Nelakondapalli preferred to conduct the programme at Palair rivulet and a local tank at Mujjugudem. The people of Kusumanchi have chosen Palair reservoir and many of the villages in Tirumala-yapalem mandal want to immerse in their local tanks.
