Alert issued along Pennar River course
Flood inflows are being received into Mylavaram Reservoir continuously
ANANTAPUR: An alert has been sounded in low-lying areas along Pennar River in YSR and Annamayya districts after Mylavaram Dam got filled and water, which is expected to be released downstream.
"Flood inflows are being received into Mylavaram Reservoir continuously. At any time from now and next 24 hours, flood water will be released from the reservoir,” dam authorities said in a press release. They have requested residents staying along Pennar’s course to be alert and careful.
Dam authorities have also informed departments concerned – revenue, police, gram panchayats and municipalities, to remain cautious and avoid untoward incidents.
Last year, floods had claimed more than 10 lives and several villages had got damaged due to flood waters.
