Hyderabad cops to be on their toes for next two weeks
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police personnel who are be on bandobast duties for the Ganesh festival and will be on their toes till the idol immersion festivities on September 9, will get little rest. A scant week later, they will face a tough time in providing security for the programmes which will be held by the state and Central governments in connection with the liberation day, on September 17.
A day after the Centre government decided to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 at Parade Ground officially, the Hyderabad police reportedly had no information in connection with the event for security and bandobast purposes.
The state government has announced the three-day National Integration Day celebrations. The MIM also intends to celebrate the event.
A senior police officer from Hyderabad city confirmed that they did not receive any information from the Centre seeking police protection and bandobast arrangements. "Senior officers will take a decision in connection with security arrangements as Union home minister Amit Shah and two Chief Ministers are to attend the programme," the officer said.
The Police officials also felt that the city police were busy discharging duties during the Ganesh festival and forces had been deployed at sensitive areas. A large number of police personnel form outside had been brought to the city in view of the Ganesh immersion procession.
Meanwhile, the Centre has decided to post Central forces to guard the Parade Ground as part of security measures during the visit of the Union minister and VVIPs to participate in Liberation Day celebrations.
A team of Central forces visited the Parade Ground on Saturday and collected details to provide additional security arrangments on September 17. However, the Hyderabad police said that did not receive any inputs about their arrival.
