Guntur: The cops have begun implementing the No helmet-No entry rule at the Guntur district police office in Guntur strictly from Tuesday. Guntur Urban SP Ch. Vijaya Rao made a surprise visit to the DPO, including police control room.
Finding that some CCTV cameras in the police control room were not functioning, he directed the officials concerned to repair them soon. He said CCTV surveillance plays an important role in containing crime and maintaining law and order in the society. He directed police personnel in the control room to be alert 24x7.
Mr Vijaya Rao asked the police ministerial staff to resolve the long pending issues. He asked them to take long pending files to the notice of higher police officials and to bring to his notice if the higher officials fail to resolve them.
Further, he directed for computerisation of all records. He inspected the crime records of the District Crime Records Bureau and directed the staff there to help the police in the investigation of crimes with updated rowdy and history-sheeter details.
Observing that many people, including the cops, were not wearing helmets, the SP directed the traffic police to take legal action against those violating the rule. He directed the traffic police not to allow those without helmet into the DPO and to register cases against them. He asked the police and public to follow helmet rule.
