Jagan to set foundations for distillery, millets' unit today

ANANTAPUR / KURNOOL: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will virtually set the foundation stone on Wednesday around 11 am for a Rs 544 crore distillery being set up by the Navadurga Group near Jajarakallu village in D. Hirehal mandal of Anantapur district.

The distillery, located on 29.95 acres close to the border of Bellary district in Karnataka, will use locally produced maize and paddy dust to produce ethanol.
District Industries general manager Nagaraja Rao said the unit will provide direct employment to at least 500 skilled persons and indirect employment to another 500 unskilled individuals.

Farmers of the surrounding areas will also benefit by selling their produce to the distillery.

The Chief Minister will also virtually set the foundation on Wednesday for a secondary millet processing unit being set up in Kurnool district with a budget allocation of ₹4.41 crore.

The unit, being set up as part of the state's food processing policy, is located at Chinna Pendekal village in Adoni mandal. It is first of the 13 secondary millet processing units being started all across Andhra Pradesh.
