Vasavan to continue as Kottayam district secretary
Kottayam: The four-day district conference of the CPM held at Kottayam concluded on Thursday.
The incumbent district secretary V.N. Vasavan was elected again as the district secretary of the party. The district conference elected a 34-member district committee after the district conference.
The red march in which thousands of party members participated began from the police parade ground and reached the Thirunakkara ground in the evening. The conference discussed diverse issues faced by the party including the factionalism and discussed the entry of the Kerala Congress (M) into the LDF.
Earlier speaking at the public meeting organized at the Thirunakkara ground, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the BJP and the RSS were targeting the CPM at the national level.
Mr Vasavan presided over the meeting. LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan and Electricity Minister M.M. Mani were present.
