AP Chief Secretary Tucker brings in new style of functioning
Hyderabad: Chief secretary S.P. Tucker is bringing in a slew of changes in the way his office operates. For one, the system of visitors being ushered into his office has been done away with.
Mr Tucker has told his office staff to direct his visitors to the waiting hall, where he meets them. This is said to be the practices in offices abroad, and also the practice followed in the Reserve Bank of India.
It is said that Mr Tucker had gone to the RBI to meet an officer to discuss state government issues. He was sent to the waiting hall, where the officer came to meet him. The system is believed to save time.
On Thursday, a senior officer of the housing department who had gone to the chief secretary’s office experienced the new system. Only officers who go to the office to discuss departmental issues are allowed inside.
Also, Mr Tucker has barred flower bouquets. He told his peshi officers: “I took charge as chief secretary four days back. In these four days, many officers and others have come to greet me. No more visitors and flowers, I have to concentrate on the administration,” he said.
Also, Mr Tucker is ignoring protocol and staying put in Hyderabad when the President and the Prime Minister reach Visakhapatnam for the International Fleet Review.
Generally, the chief secretary is present to receive the President and the Prime Minister. Mr Tucker has deputed special chief secretary Ajeya Kallam to receive them.
