Technichal institutions may exit JNTUH
Hyderabad: For the first time in higher education sector in the state, various technology institutions including engineering, pharmacy and MBA colleges under JNTU-Hyderabad would shift their affiliations to other universities like Osmania, Kakatiya, Telangana etc. The reasons being cited for the affiliation’s shift are JNTU’s stringent norm-s and guidelines, nearness to jurisdiction of other varsities and the recent reorganisation of districts.
The existing student batches will not be affected even if colleges are given permission to shift. As for engineering colleges, the second, third and final-year students will write their final exams like before and get their certificates from JNTU itself. Only the first-year students, joining in July-August months this year, come under the purview of the new varsity. When JNTU registrar Dr. N. Yadaiah was asked to share details about change of loyalties, he stated that a few colleges had approac-hed the varsity to shift their affiliation this year. “The JNTU has to issue an NoC (No objection Certificate) for th-em to move to another university. Guideli-nes have been prepared and interested colleges were asked to fulfil them. We will not act in haste as students’ interests need be noted,” he said.
Several colleges arrived at this decision as they were unable to digest stringent norms like mandatory bio-metric attendance, having Ph.D holders as teaching faculty etc to get affiliation permission this year, it is learnt. Commenting on this, Yadaiah said there was no way the university would compromise on rules for teaching faculty and other requirements that are a must for quality education. According to sources, Aurora Group that has five engineering colleg-es in Uppal, Bhongir, etc has made up its mind to shift from JNTU.
