YSR Congress plans Yuva Bheri, seeks Special Category Status
Guntur: The YSR Congress leaders will conduct Yuva Bheri (a youth convention) demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to AP on February 16. YSRC state spokesperson Ambati Rambabu state secretary L. Appi Reddy, YSRC Guntur district president M. Rajasekhar and MLA K. Raghupathi conducted a press meet at Guntur on Saturday.
Mr Raghupathi said that the Telugu Desam was fearing rising support to the YSRC for continuing fight for SCS to AP and so threatening to forcefully stop YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy from attending Yuva Bheri programmes. Recalling the threat of TD MLC A. Satishprabh-akar about stopping YSRC from conducting Yuva Bheri in Bapatla, he said that this shows the fear of TD and their illegalities and added that YSRC will conduct the Yuva Bheri witout fail on February 16.
Mr Rambabu alleged that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu was showing his politically motivated dualism towards SCS by first demanding SCS before coming into power and later shunning the same after assuming power reflecting his opportunist mindset. He said that YSRC MPs are ready to quit from their posts for the SCS. Mr Rajasekhar said that Mr Jagan would attend the Yuva Bheri programme in which youth and students in large numbers would join. He added that the venue would be fixed in a few days and announced that the YSRC will continue its fight for SCS.
Meanwhile, the YSR Congress students wing launched a relay hunger fast seeking Special Category Status to AP at Guntur. The YSRC state secretary, L. Appi Reddy said the public of AP would teach a befitting lesson to the political parties and organisation which failed to fight for SCS to AP. He warned about intensifying agitations if the TD fails to pressurise the Union government for SCS.
