Chhattisgarh: Maoists kill jawan, torch ten vehicles
Bhopal: Maoists ran amok in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit south Bastar region killing two people, including a jawan, and torching ten vehicles that were being used for road construction late Saturday night.
According to south Bastar deputy inspector general of police, P. Sunderraj, the rebels abducted an assistant constable, identified as Sitaram Bagde, at Kalcharam in Bijapur district, when he was returning from his sister’s place in Farsegarh.
On Sunday morning, his body was found on the road in Kalcharam with his throat slit.
In another incident, armed Maoists stormed Gatam village in south Bastar district of Dantewada on Saturday night and dragged Manoj Padium, 24, out of his house.
Then, the rebels shot him dead in front of his wife. Manoj incurred the wrath of the ultras for working as an employee of a road contractor in his area.
In a separate incident, Maoists torched ten vehicles being used for road construction in Maded area in Bijapur district on Saturday night.
