Ernakulam tops in BSNL revenue
KOCHI: Ernakulam business area of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) topped in the year's revenue with a 4 per cent increase from previous year, said principal general manager Francis Jacob here on Monday.
Announcing several plans and benefits for the customers as part of the month-long megafest started from March 1, he said that 4G service would be available in the city areas soon.
"The construction of 126 4G towers has already been completed in Ernakulam, and the construction of 155 more is under process. We are taking our complete efforts to bring 4G services in the city with 2100 MHz frequency as soon as possible," Mr Jacob said.
Free sim cards will be given to first 50,000 customers who opt 4G connections.
The company has also announced 50,000 new broadband connections for the active landline numbers with 5 GB data per day for one month at a speed of 10 Mbps. Besides, 5000 new VOIP connections will be available with one-month free service. BSNL will also bring back 10,000 landlines disconnected by the customers with incoming call availability on an experimental basis.
Connections will be given to applicants in the 'hotline project' launched by the Kerala police in association with BSNL.
Broadband connections will be given immediately to the applicants who apply for FTTH (fibre to the premises) connections.
BSNL is providing Aseem plan to customers to retain the landline number disconnected. A customer can choose a landline indicator of his choice and all incoming calls to this number will be automatically forwarded to one number of any networks of subscriber choice without any additional cost implication.
