IIT-Madras top engineering college in India
New Delhi/Chennai: IIT Madras ranked first in the country for engineering (research and teaching) followed by IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur as per the ‘India Rankings 2016’ released on Monday in New Delhi.
Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani released the first indianised ranking for higher education institutions in the country with lists of the top universities and the top institutes in Engineering, Management and Pharmacy subjects.
In all, over 3,600 educational institutions and universities submitted their details for the ranking. After releasing the India Rankings, Smriti Irani said, “There is an effort to make this ranking system an annual affair and more categories will be added so that students can know about an institute before taking admission.”
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) which released the India Rankings 2016, ranked the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore as the best varsity in India and IIM Bangalore as top management institution.
