Solid waste management project inaugurated in NLCIL
Chennai: The Director (Human Resource), Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd, R. Vikraman, inaugurated the Solid Waste Management Project in NLCIL, Neyveli on Friday.
The Navaratna public sector has introduced the project under Swachh Bharat Mission. The solid waste would be collected on daily basis in residential, commercial, institutions at 5, 6 and 7 blocks. Later, this would be processed with the help of M/s. Srinivas Waste Management Services (P) Ltd (SWMS), Chennai.
Vikraman said the objective of this initiative is to maximise waste recovery through sustainable use of bio-degradable waste and recycling of waste thereby aiming to minimise waste disposal and composting of degradable wastes at the source itself to convert the wastes into organic manure.
As part of this project this agency will provide dustbin in Green colour to dump house hold wastes like flower, food, fruits, egg shell, vegetable garden waste, meat, etc. and a blue colour dustbin for waste like paper, metal, rubber, plastic items wood, cardboard, water bottles and a bag to collect electronic wastage like battery cells, cell phones etc. Employees of SWMS will collect garbage every day from door to door and, horticulture wastes.
Chief Vigilance Officer, NLCIL, T.Venkatasubramanian has appreciated NLCIL management for introducing the project. He hopes for a pollution free and trash free township.
