Erode: A calf was attacked by a carnivore at a tribal village near Thalavadi in the Sathyamangalam forest range.
Meanwhile, a dog was also taken away under mysterious circumstances, amid villagers suspecting a leopard's movement.
Farmer Palanisamy, 55, from Malkuthipuram village near Thalavadi has four cows at his house. Recently, a cow gave birth to a calf. On Wednesday night, they heard the calf bleating and rushed out to find that a carnivore was trying to drag away the calf.
They shouted and it ran away from the spot.On Thursday night, a dog of local resident Prakash was dragged away by the carnivore.
Suspecting leopard movement, villagers alerted forest officials.
They demanded that forest officials monitor the leopard movement to protect the villagers.
