Parking woes near Court complex in Visakhapatnam

The legal fraternity says that fed up with parking woes at District Court Complex.

Visakhapatnam: Visitors (clients or litigants) to the District Court Complex, located near Jagadamba Junction in the city are finding it difficult to park their vehicles at the Court complex given the new rule of no entry for their vehicles.

The Visakhapatnam Bar Association (VBA) took the decision to ease the parking woes at the Court complex, but it has created troubles to the clients, who now have to park their vehicles near Green Park Hotel and reach the Court on foot.

Due to inadequate parking space at the Court premises, the District Court complex area has been choked by hundreds of vehicles. Advocates, clients and others are parking their vehicles in front of the Court premises creating traffic problem every day. Sometimes outsiders too park their vehicles here.

Though the legal fraternity has been in correspondence with the authorities of veterinary hospital adjacent to the Court to get some parking space, veterinary authorities are yet to announce their decision. The legal fraternity says that fed up with parking woes at District Court Complex, they decided not to allow visitors’ vehicles in the Court premises and advised the clients to park their vehicles at the open space, belonging to the Court near Green Park Hotel.

“Parking problem at the Court complex is a major issue. However with no entry for visitors’ vehicles, we forced to travel round the court to park our vehicles near Green Park Hotel and walk some distance to reach the Court,” said D.S.S. Rao, a client.

If the new Court complex comes up on the vacant land near Green Park, there will be no space for parking and again the problem would arise, he added.

There is a major chunk of land at the veterinary hospital adjacent to the Court complex, which has been lying unused. The temporary measures will not solve the parking woes and legal fraternity must try to get some part of veterinary hospital land for the court to overcome this problem, says senior advocate and president of Forum of Legal Professionals, Kuppili Muralidhar.
