6,000 posts to be filled in Andhra Pradesh police department

The government is considering relaxation of age limit for the filling of constable posts.

Tirumala: A notification would be issued soon to fill over 6,000 vacancies in the police department, said state director general of police (DGP) J.V. Ramudu. He had visited Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Monday.

Speaking to newsmen outside the temple, after offering prayers to the Lord, he said some 2,800 police would return to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana following the bifurcation of the state. All the formalities were completed for the deportation of police from TS to AP, he said adding that the government had formally agreed to fill the remaining posts recently.

He revealed that the security is perfect in Tirumala and more concentration is being kept on the world famous pilgrim centre in the wake of the terrorist threats. The inner corridor works were completed in all the four Mada streets and were brought under the control of the police. Plans were afoot to complete the outer corridor works also. Once these works are completed the Tirumala would be further fortified.

When some journalists brought to the notice of the DGP that the CVSO post in TTD remained vacant, Mr Ramudu said that post would also be filler very soon.

Later speaking to newsmen at Nellore in the evening, Mr Ramudu revealed that several changes are being made in the selection of police constables. The government is considering relaxation of age limit for the filling of constable posts.
