Confusion over showcause notice to Vijayvargiya Jr.
Bhopal: There is speculation that BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya who had sparked national outrage by attacking a local civic body officer in Indore with a cricket bat last week, has been issued show cause notice by the party.
State party leadership here, however, apparently tried to steer clear of the issue, saying that “We will let you know” if any action was initiated against the legislator.
“As of now, no decision has been taken on the issue. Our party acts according to its constitution. If any action is taken against the legislator as per the constitution of the party, I will let you know”, state BJP president Rakesh Singh told reporters here on Thursday.
Interestingly, senior leaders of the party in MP were unwilling to either confirm or deny the development.
“It may be a decision by the Central party to issue show cause notice to Akash. As far as I know, no senior leader of the party in the state was aware of any such development”, a senior BJP leader told this newspaper requesting not to be quoted.
A BJP leader said the Central party can also initiate disciplinary action against a state leader or a MLA as per constitution of BJP. Of course, it has been a normal practice that state BJP leadership usually takes disciplinary action against a state leader or an MLA.
The first-time MLA, son of BJP national general secretary in-charge of West Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya, along with his followers chased some civic body officers, part of anti-encroachment wing of Indore Municipal Corporation, on June 26 in the city and assaulted one of the officers with a cricket bat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has snubbed him without taking his name for his unruly behaviour saying that such leaders should be expelled from the BJP.
