Rumours over Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh's Delhi visit

Sources said the Sangh leadership was reportedly not happy with the performance of the Raman Singh government.

Bhopal: Rumours are flying thick and fast in the ruling BJP circle in Chhattisgarh about chief minister Raman Singh’s political future following his “sudden” decision to visit Delhi on Thursday.

Mr Singh’s two-day-visit to Delhi, reportedly scheduled in the last minute, comes close on the heels of closure of four-day-meet of the party where representatives of leaderships of both RSS and Central BJP attended to review party’s prospects in the 2018 Assembly elections in the state.

Sources said the Sangh leadership was reportedly not happy with the performance of the Raman Singh government, which currently is in its third consecutive term in the state, and felt that the party would find it hard to battle the growing anti-incumbency sentiments among the electorates in the coming Assembly polls, if it failed to deliver in coming days.

What worried the party leadership the most was that Mr Singh’s public image of late has suffered a severe beating in the wake of surfacing of a series of corruptions in his government in the past couple of years.
