TSRTC Employees, Kin Protest Against Governor at bus depots

Hyderabad: Employees of the TSRTC, who were jubilant over the state government’s decision to absorb the corporation, on Saturday protested against the Governor, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, for holding back the Bill and posing queries to the government.

Workers and family members of 43,000 employees gathered at bus depots across the state, seeking that the Bill be passed through in the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Assembly.

Over 1,200 angry employees also took out a rally from the Indira Gandhi statue at Tank Bund to the Raj Bhavan, chanting “we want justice”, only to find out that the Governor was in Puducherry.

A delegation of 10 protesters, however, interacted with the Governor through teleconference.

Thomas Reddy, who was among the delegation to interact with the Governor, said: “The Governor responded positively; she mentioned ‘I have helped RTC workers in the past...I will do the same now’.”

He said, “We urged the Governor (to clear the Bill), as the delay by the Raj Bhavan can put us in trouble. We requested to send the Bill to the Assembly.”

“The Governor sought clarity on five points, which the government will do. We are hoping this Bill will be cleared soon,” Reddy said.
