Bhopal: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday saw a ‘Mahendra Singh Dhoni’ in Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, saying that the four-time CM of MP is a good finisher in elections like the legendary ex-captain of Indian cricket team.
“It will not be an exaggeration to call your Mama ( as Mr Chouhan is popularly known in Madhya Pradesh) ‘Dhoni’ of politics, since he is a good finisher (in elections) whatever may be the beginning, like the former Indian cricket team captain”, Mr Singh said while launching the second part of Jan Ashirwad Yatra, a mass outreach campaign by BJP, in Neemuch in the state.
Mr Singh said that he has seen Mr Chouhan working in the field of politics for the past four decades.
“No matter how the beginning is, he has mastered the art of winning the match by giving a good finishing”, he said.
The Union minister said that Mr Chouhan has gained success in politics not because of his acumen in politics but because of the service to the people he has done, like a caretaker.
“Mr Chouhan has gained the trust of the people because he served them”, Mr Singh said.
Mr Singh lambasted Congress veteran Kamal Nath, saying that the latter had failed to deliver during his 15-month-rule in Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Nath had blocked the Prime Minister Awas Yojana in Madhya Pradesh when he was the chief minister denying two lakh poor people their homes.
“Mr Nath was apprehensive that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take the credit if the scheme was launched and hence he stopped the scheme in the state when he was the chief minister”, Mr Singh said.
The Union minister said that several other welfare schemes of the Centre were stopped during the Kamal Nath regime in the state.
