Bhopal encounter: Madhya Pradesh cops told to kill all SIMI men

New audio clip reveals conversation among police during encounter.

Bhopal: An audio clip detailing purported communication between police at the ground zero and their seniors at the control room during the October 31 encounter killing of eight suspected Simi activists after they fled the city jail here, has indicated keenness by the cops to eliminate them. A voice in the clip, which has gone viral, days after the incident, was heard questioning someone on the other side, allegedly his senior, “Ek ko to zinda Rakhna zaroori hai (it is necessary to keep one of them alive)” and the order comes, “sabko nipta do (kill them all)”.

The wireless communication among the cops involved in the encounter suggested that the encounter had only one objective — to kill all the eight fugitives.

The narrative of nine minute, 58 seconds, clip goes like this:
Cop 1: There are five targets. We are after them.
Cop 2: Don’t withdraw. Don’t spare anyone. Surround them and finish them. No one should remain alive.
Cop 3: They have opened fire.
Reply: We must retaliate.
Another cop’s voice: Five were killed.
Reply: Congratulation.
Conversion between two cops: One of them should be kept alive.
Reply: How much will be spent on treatment. Kill them all before the ‘Saheb’ (boss) comes. We are reaching there.
Cop to another cop on the ground: People will praise MP police even after ten years.
Cop: Media has not reached yet. They don’t have guts.

Superintendent of police, CID, Anurag Sharma, who is probing the encounter killing incident neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of the audio clip, saying, “This will also be probed.”

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government has ordered a judicial probe in to the jailbreak and the alleged encounter giving into the opposition’s demand. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered the probe, which will be conducted by retired High Court Judge, Justice S.K. Pandey, an official release issued on Thursday night said.
