Hyderabad: Maternity ward of Nacharam ESI Hospital plagued by rodents, mosquitoes
Hyderabad: The maternity ward of ESI hospital in Nacharam is a nightmare for its patients due to the unhygienic environment and regular bribing of lower level staff. Many patients regret their decision to get admitted there.
Rats are seen running outside the entrance of the ward. There is a severe mosquito problem leading to fears of expecting mothers and their attendants contracting some dangerous disease patients complain of bathrooms being dirty and poorly maintained. Same is the case with corridors in the hospital where stains of betel leaves can be seen.
Patients complained of poor quality food given to them and in a limited quantity that does not satisfy their hunger. Malfunctioning fans, lack of bed sheets and pillows added to the woes of patients.
Demand for money from staff is common. Patients said that when a girl is born they have to pay Rs 500 and when a baby boy is born Rs 1,000.
