Telangana HC Issues Notice to EC, CS on Tribal Welfare Department Secretary Post

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has issued notice to the Election Commission of India and the Chief Secretary, directing them to respond to a petition which complained that no official had been posted as secretary and commissioner of the tribal welfare department.

The petitioner brought to the notice of the court that after the transfer of Dr Christina Z. Chongthu on October 13, the Election Commission — which had declared the Assembly election dates on October 9, bringing the code of conduct into place — and the Telangana government had not taken steps to appoint a replacement.
