Hyderabad: Chaos rules at metro parking slots
Hyderabad: Metro stations have often been criticised over availability of parking space. Two-wheelers are often found parked in the areas earmarked for four-wheelers. Some two-wheelers are also found parked in between parked cars. Despite designated sign-boards earmarking different areas for two-wheelers and for parking of cars, vehicles are being parked haphazardly.
This is causing a lot of inconvenience while removing the cars. A commuter, Surya Prakash said, “No amount of sign-boards is going to solve the parking problem in the city if vehicle owners do not park their vehicles as per these sign-boards.”
The two wheelers are parked in three rows leading to an exercise in itself for commuters to remove them. However, it has been observed that there was no security guard at the parking. Another commuter, Aishwarya Chowdary said, “Often it becomes difficult to remove cars, especially when we have to move so many vehicles.”
A HMRL official said that they discouraged parking at metro stations but the smart parking will address the issue. As part of the Smart Parking App, a web-based online booking will be available which will instil more discipline. At a project cost of Rs 10 crore, with an average of Rs10 lakh being spent per station, the smart parking facility is being created in the city.
