Panther enters farmer's house in Gudalur, caught
Ooty: A panther entered the house of a farmer at Pattavayal village at Gudalur on the Nilgiris border and foresters caught it using a trap. It will be soon relocated to Mudumalai forest.
Mr. Rayan (70), a farmer in Pattavayal, was away with his family for the past couple of days to attend a wedding. When he returned home with his family on Tuesday afternoon, a rude shock awaited them in the form of a panther hiding inside his house.
When Naushad, son of Mr. Rayan, opened the door of the house, he saw a panther running inside the room in the house. Taken aback by this, he closed the door and locked it. Rayan informed foresters in Gudalur. They placed a trap at the door and got the panther to walk into it.
Forest department sources said that there is a small gap along the roof of the house on its rear. The panther could have entered the house through this gap and settled down inside the house as no one was there for the past couple of days. It is an adult panther which could have strayed into the village limits from the nearby jungles, sources added.
