Anti-CAA protest enters 30th day
Hyderabad: The ongoing protest against CAA-NPR-NRC by the students of the Nizamia Tibbi College entered the 30th day on Wednesday. The Unani students are demonstrating daily at the college premises after attending classes.
State president of the Students Islamic Organ-isation (SIO) Dr Talha Fayazuddin addressing the agitating students said the people in power who were so obstinate about the CAA in the beginning, are now showing signs of remorse before the unfaltering struggle of common people. However, the task is not easy. “We have to struggle for a long period to achieve our goals.”
He said students and women who are on protest are not doing this for themselves. Many of them can prove their nativity, but they are struggling for the rights of their countrymen. It is the responsibility of the government to prove that a particular person is not a lawful citizen of the country, but this government wants to put the burden of proof on the shoulders of the citizens and is asking every citizen to present their domicile proof, he said.
Dr Talha said we are not afraid of going to detention centres. We uphold the values of equality and justice. We want to preserve the idea of India, which provides equal rights for every citizen. We are not against the people who want to implement the divisive ideology. We are opposing their ideology and will win them over with love and affection.
He remembered Hakim Ajmal Khan, who was one of the founders of the Jamia Millia Islamia and played a key role in the freedom struggle.
He said now Unani doctors are playing a role
in safeguarding the country.
Dr Zubair Alam, a student of BUMS demanded the Chief Minster immediately convene a session of the Assembly and pass a resolution against the CAA and take measures to avert the exercise of NPR, which will be started from April 1.
He said the Citizenship Amendment Act is similar to the laws enacted by the Nazis.
This is the law of detention, deportation and conversion. It is necessary to oppose this law to safeguard the pluralism of the country.
He said the police is not taking action against those delivering provocative speeches but is not allowing people to carry out peaceful protests against CAA and NRC. If the police machinery cannot take action against those who are spreading hatred, then it should use the tag ‘fascist police’ instead of ‘friendly police’.
