Vellore: As many as 30,13,042 voters, including 15,24,721 women voters and 65 others from the district will exercise their franchise for the assembly elections to be held in Vellore district’s 13 assembly constituencies. District collector Dr R.Nanthagopal told reporters here on Saturday that around 3,439 polling booths had been arranged for the 13 assembly constituencies for which around 15,484 polling officers had been appointed.
In the coming election, 300 voter verifiable paper audit trial machines would be engaged in 244 polling booths in Vellore assembly constituency to enable voters to check they had voted for the candidates they intended to vote. Further, 39 flying squads and equal number of static superintendent teams, besides 13 video superintending committees would be engaged for the smooth conduct of the election, the collector said.
Besides, the Election Commission would appoint an Accounts & Auditing Committee for the district. A Media Cerfication Committee started functioning from March 4, the Collector added.
