Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the government would construct Babu Jagjvan Ram’s memorial building in Amaravati capital location. Participating in Babu Jagjivan Ram's birth anniversary celebrations here on Tuesday, he recalled that Babu Jagjivan Ram’s memorial was constructed in Hyderabad during his stint as CM in the past.
He said that Jagjivan Ram, BR Ambedkar, Jyothirao Phoole and NT Rama Rao had strived for the betterment of society, especially the downtrodden people. He recalled that Jagjivan Ram worked together with NT Rama Rao in his last days. NTR had introduced 'two rice scheme, housing for poor by keeping in mind the downtrodden people, he saidd. The CM said that the government has decided that the present year be treated exclusively for backward classes and poorer sections and all schemes would be implemented for their uplift.
The government would provide free corporate education for students of SC sections and Rs 10 lakh would be allotted to students of SCs for studies abroad. The government is taking steps to lay cement roads in all Dalit localities in state. On this occasion, the Chief Minister distributed cheques to beneficiaries of SC sections and handed over various kinds of tools also.
Before that Mr Naidu paid floral tributes by garlanding the statue of Jagjivan Ram at Ramavarapadu Ring Centre. Ministers Ravela Kishore Babu, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, SC Corporation chairman Jupudi Prabhakar, MP Konakalla Narayana were among those present on the occasion.
