Kiran Bedi asks MHA to initiate action against Puducherry CS

Bedi denied allegations that she is blocking funds to Puducherry from the Central government and said her intention is to prevent corruption.

Puducherry: Intensifying the tussle with the government, Lt Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi on Wednesday said that she had asked the Union home ministry to initiate action against chief secretary Manoj Parida, who violated rules.

With CM V. Narayanasamy backing Manoj Parida, Ms Bedi came down heavily on the official, blaming him for the recent political developments in Puducherry that lead to a tussle between the government and the Lt Governor.

“The irresponsible and immature conduct of the Chief Secretary has brought huge anguish and rift in the Governance of Puducherry”, said Ms Bedi.
Raising severe criticism against Mr Parida, facing her wrath for executing the directive of Mr V. Vaithilingam, Speaker of the house, to suspend Puducherry municipal commissioner R Chandrasekaran without her clearance, Ms Bedi wrote on her Twitter account that “unprofessional and irregular role played by chief secretary of Puducherry of hounding an officer despite directions and existing rules.”

Parida put Chandrasekaran on ‘compulsory wait’ following the Speaker’s ruling on a privilege motion moved by AIADMK legislator A. Bhaskar. While the government and the legislators cutting across the party lines came in support of the decision to suspend the official, Ms Bedi made her stand clear on the issue that she is the only authority to take decision on service matters. Ms Bedi was backing Chandrasekran right from the beginning and cancelled the order to shift him from the post.

Bedi denied allegations that she is blocking funds to Puducherry from the Central government and said her intention is to prevent corruption.
