Sitarama Kalyanotsavam to be performed at Vontimitta temple on April 10
ANANTAPUR: The annual Navahnika Brahmotsavams got off to a colourful start at Sri Kodandarama Swami temple in Vontimitta in Kadapa district on Wednesday as per the tenets of Pancharatra Agama. The ‘Dhwajapatham’ bearing the image of Lord Garuda was hoisted on temple pillar in a ceremonious way amidst vedic chanting by archakas of temple and also the TTD.
Srirama Navami was also celebrated as part of the 10-day fete. Speaking on this occasion, TTD Trust Board chief Dr Ch. Krishnamurty said the TTD was taking all necessary measures to give a facelift to the historic Kodandarama Swamy temple, the venue for official celebration of Rama Navami by the AP government. “The Chief Minister wants to develop Vontimitta temple as the most sought after pilgrim centre,” Mr. Krishnamurthy said.
“The TTD is committed to develop this ancient temple. Sri Sita Rama Kalyanotsavam will be performed in a grand manner on April 10, for which elaborate arrangements are being made, the TTD chairman said. He further added that all devotees, who participate in the Kalyanotsavam, will be provided with prasadam and a packet of Mutyala Talambralu. About 2 lakh talambralu packets have been prepared by TTD to be distributed to the devotees.
In the evening, the deities were took out in a procession on the Sesha Vahanam. Kavi Sammelan was also arranged in which several poets took part and read out verses describing the significance and importance of birth, wedding and coronation of Lord Sri Rama. After the Dhwajarohanam ceremony, JEO, Tirupati, P. Bhaskar inspected the arrangements for Sitarama Kalyanam to be performed on April 10, along with CE Chandrasekhar Reddy and other officials.
