Girls outshine boys in SSC exams in AP, 933 schools score 100% pass

Vijayawada: Minister for education Botsa Satyanarayana announced the results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations here on Saturday in which the state’s overall pass percentage was 72.26 per cent, which is five percent higher than last year’s figure. Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 75.38 per cent as against 69.27 per cent by boys, implying that the pass percentage of girls was 6.11 per cent higher than that of boys.

Satyanarayana released the results here on Saturday along with school education commissioner S. Suresh Kumar, director government exams D. Devananda Reddy and others.

Paravathipuram Manyam district topped with 87.47 per cent followed by Srikakulam 84.53 per cent, Visakhapatnam 82.68 per cent, YSR Kadapa 79.43 per cent, Anakapalli 77.74 per cent, Guntur 77.40 per cent, Vizianagaram 76.66 per cent , Tirupati 75.70 per cent, Nellore 75.61 per cent, Bapatla 75.31 per cent, Krishna 74.67 per cent, Prakasam 73.74 per cent, Konaseema 73.48 per cent, NTR 73.07 per cent, Annamayya 72.05 per cent, East Godavari 70.32 per cent, Chittoor 69.53 per cent, Palnadu 69.47 per cent, Kakinada 68.02 per cent, Anantapur 66.25 per cent, West Godavari 65.93 per cent, Eluru 64.35 per cent, Satya Sai 61.81 per cent, Alluri Sitharama Raju 61.41 per cent, Kurnool 60.58 per cent and Nandyal, which registered 60.39 per cent pass per cent. The minister said that overall 72.26 per cent students passed in the SSC exams that were held from April 3 to 18. Approximately, 6,05,050 students appeared for the exams, including 3,09,245 boys and 2,95,807 girls. He stated that 933 schools secured 100 per cent pass result while 38 schools had zero result.

Satyanarayana said that candidates from AP residential schools secured the highest pass percentage at 95.25 per cent. He pointed out that 80.82 percent of English medium candidates had passed while only 50 per cent Telugu medium students made the grade. Srikakulam district secured the highest number of first division results while the lowest was from Sri Satya Sai district.

He said that advance supplementary exams for candidates who had failed would be held from June 2 to 10. The examination fee can be paid from May 7 to 17
and with ₹50 fine up to May 22. He said that special coaching will be given to all those who had failed.

Candidates seeking recounting or re-verification can apply by May 13. The SC pass certificates with subject-wise marks will be sent to schools in due course, he said.
