Rains followed by dry weather for Telangana in the coming days
HYDERABAD: The city remained warm and cloudy on Friday, after sudden downpours especially on the western side of the city on Thursday, bringing temporary relief. But the state faces the prospects of two weather systems, one in Karnataka and the other in the Bay of Bengal, which will bring rain and heat respectively.
More rains are expected in the next three days due to a cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and nearby areas, the India Meteorological Department said.
The rains will subside and dry weather will prevail due to a cyclone forming over the Bay of Bengal after May 8.
As per the IMD, a cyclonic circulation would from Saturday over the Bay of Bengal which will develop into a low-pressure area in the next two days. This system will bring dry weather to the state in the later part of the week and the maximum temperature will soar to 40º Celsius.
On Friday, light rains with thunderstorms were experienced in isolated places in the districts of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mahbubabd, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mulugu, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sirccilla, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Warangal.
Bhadradri Kothagudem was the wettest place in the state with 45.3 mm of rainfall, and the warmest at 39.3ºC, said the TS Development and Planning Society. Khammam received 44.8 mm and Mancherial 31.8 mm rainfall. In the city, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.3ºC at Ganaka Bhavan, Khairatabad.
IMD has given yellow warnings as light to moderate rains and thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places over the next three days.
Over the next 48 hours, the city will experience a cloudy sky with light rain or thundershowers. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35ºC and 24ºC with a relative humidity of 82 per cent.
