Chennai police informers help trace kin of dead in Krishnagiri accident
KRISHNAGIRI: Thanks to well meaning police informers, relatives of two people who died in Friday’s ghastly road tragedy near here and whose bodies were kept in the Krishnagiri government hospital mortuary, were traced.
At least 17 people died in the mishap when a truck hit a private bus bound for Mallur from Krishnagiri at Melu Malai, on the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway here.
While ten bodies were handed over to relatives the same day, and five more the next day, a woman from neighboring Andhra Pradesh also died in the mishap.
She was identified as 35-year-old Sannamma alias Premavathi of Tharapalli village near V.Kota in Andhra Pradesh.
Her relatives came to know about the accident through media reports and came to Krishnagiri and identified her body a day after the incident.
Two more bodies of men remained unclaimed and police were unable to trace their relatives. District police took the help of local informers and also of those in adjacent Dharmapuri district. This helped officials to locate their relatives on Sunday evening. They were identified as 32-year-old S.Balamurugan of Ettikhankottai near Palacode in Dharmapuri and 40-year-old P.Angamuthu of Vinayagapuram in Malayandahalli near Kaveripattinam in Dharmapuri district.
With that, the bodies of all 17 people who died in the tragic accident on Friday have been handed over to their relatives. The injured people were also discharged from the Krishnagiri government hospital.
