PIL against Dy CM post
Mysuru: Shekar Iyer, a 60-year-old Mysuru resident, recently filed a PIL in the Karnataka High Court questioning the creation of the post of Deputy Chief Minister and claimed that the government order in this regard is unconstitutional.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Iyer said that in the PIL, he has argued that the Constitution of India does not say anything about the post of Dy CM. Hence the oath of office administered to Deputy CM Dr G. Parameshwar by the governor on May 23 and the GO (Government Order) issued in this regard are unconstitutional, he said.
Mr Iyer, a resident of Mathuranagar here, had served as HR head in a Volvo company in Mysuru. He has done his masters degree in business law at National Law School and currently teaches management, human resource management and law. This is the fifth PIL he has filed, he has also filed more than 500 RTI applications. “I have even filed 11 consumer court cases. I argue my cases on my own and I have won all the cases. Most of them pertain to issues concerning the general public,” Mr Iyer said.
