HC sentences Navin Mittal in contempt case
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court sentenced Navin Mittal, the then commissioner of collegiate education, G. Yadagiri , regional joint director collegiate education and Swarnalatha, principal of government degree college at Kalwakurthy to pay fine of Rs 10,000 each, for violating court orders related to reinstatement of an employee of the degree college at Kalwakurthy.
Despite the court orders to reinstate the employee K. Srinivasa Rao, Mittal willfully violated the orders and not reinstate the employee into service. The authorities issued orders of reinstatement and have paid salary for the said period. It is submitted that the authorities have acted with a predetermined mind to punish the petitioner.
Considering the details and facts, Justice P. Madhavi Devi fined the authorities. In case they default, the respondent authorities shall suffer a simple one-month imprisonment.
